About us
The Entrepreneurship & Start-ups Affinity Group helps MEng and MTM students turn ideas into ventures through community, resources and access to Berkeley's startup ecosystem.
Affinity Groups are student-led communities of the Fung Institute's Master of Engineering program, built around shared career goals. Each year, MEng students volunteer as Affinity Group Leaders: with the support of the Fung career team and MEng alumni mentors, they host career-focused programs and events and create a space to learn from each other.
Ours is the entrepreneurship group. We are three co-leaders from mechanical engineering, computer science and translational medicine, each of us building or having built a company, and we run the group for everyone who wants to build one too.
Mission
Berkeley has one of the richest startup ecosystems in the world, but it's decentralized. We shorten the distance between an idea in a lab or a class and the people, money and programs that can turn it into a company.
Students already working on a venture, those looking for a co-founder or a problem worth solving, and those who simply want to understand how startups get built before choosing a career.
